Eco Expo Asia 2026, jointly organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, will take place from 26 to 29 October at AsiaWorld-Expo, bringing together over 340 exhibitors from 16 countries and regions. The event, now in its 21st edition, aims to accelerate green transformation amid rising global demand for ESG solutions and carbon-neutrality targets. The HKTDC also released the "HKTDC ESG Index 2026," which climbed to 67.3 from 64.2 last year, signalling strong corporate confidence in Hong Kong as an ESG hub. Notably, 93% of surveyed businesses have integrated ESG into decision-making, and the share sourcing or selling ESG-related products jumped from 29% in 2025 to 46% in 2026.
Silas Chu, HKTDC Associate Executive Director, emphasised that green transformation has shifted from policy aspiration to market rule. "As global demand for ESG and green solutions continues to grow, Eco Expo Asia will bring together green technologies, innovative solutions, and global business opportunities to help enterprises capitalise on the new prospects emerging from this transition," he said. The expo features first-time ASEAN and Qinghai Pavilions, reflecting its expanding international reach. The ASEAN Pavilion includes 13 green technology companies from eight member countries, while Qinghai Province makes its debut alongside other Chinese Mainland regions. An ASEAN networking reception on opening day will foster cross-regional cooperation.
The event’s four thematic areas—Green Energy in Motion, Frontier Green Tech, Building for a Greener City, and From Waste to Worth—highlight cutting-edge innovations. Under Green Energy in Motion, EcoCeres Ltd. debuts advanced sustainable aviation fuel made from waste materials, aligning with Hong Kong’s policy to build a SAF industry chain. Frontier Green Tech showcases around 30 start-ups, including Stellerus Technology Limited with its Multi-Spectral Imaging Carbon Observatory, already deployed on China’s Tiangong space station. Building for a Greener City features practical solutions like Green Vigor Limited’s modular hydropower system, already used in local buildings, and AEC GreenTech Innovations Limited’s robotic plastering and painting system that works five times faster than manual labour. From Waste to Worth presents leading Chinese Mainland enterprises and Hong Kong-based Green AI Technology Limited, which will launch an unmanned recycling station using AI and automation.
Beyond the exhibition, over 30 forums and seminars will gather more than 80 government officials and industry leaders. The Eco Asia Conference will address key themes, with notable speakers including Professor Su Hui from HKUST and Avinash Persaud, Special Advisor on Climate Change to the President of the Inter-American Development Bank. Public Day on 29 October offers free admission, aiming to raise awareness of green lifestyles through workshops and seminars. The HKTDC is also organising four major tech fairs this month, creating synergies across sectors.
